Strong teams—whether in business or conservation—succeed not because of luck, but because they train, trust, and lead with purpose.

Peter Stolwerk

I am the Chair of the Board for LEAD Conservation. In this role, I support the leadership team in developing long-term strategy, building partnerships, and ensuring that LEAD continues to grow sustainably while staying true to its mission. I also provide guidance on organisational development and operations—drawing on my experience in founding and leading international businesses that combine technology, training, and field operations.

My background is rooted in building companies from the ground up, assembling high-performing teams, and navigating complex environments where precision, trust, and adaptability are essential. These are the same principles that define effective ranger and conservation leadership, which is why I feel such a strong connection to LEAD’s work.

Having made South Africa my home, I’ve developed a deep passion for nature, wildlife, and the people who dedicate their lives to protecting it. I believe conservation leadership and business leadership share the same foundation—clear vision, disciplined execution, and care for those who carry out the mission. I’m particularly inspired by LEAD’s focus on developing not just technical skill, but mindset and culture within ranger teams, as this is what drives real and lasting change.

Outside of work, I am a passionate hiker and musician. Playing the drums gives me both creative balance and focus—reminding me that rhythm, like leadership, depends on timing, teamwork, and feel.
