“What I enjoy most about this role is the opportunity to keep learning while I’m helping others grow.”

Jackson Mutabazi

I work as a Junior Trainer at LEAD Conservation. My role includes assisting in the planning and delivery of training, both in the field and in the classroom. I help facilitate sessions, guide practical exercises, and contribute to creating a safe, structured, and interactive learning environment where trainees feel supported and engaged.

I work closely with senior trainers to ensure that each course runs smoothly, and I support with logistical planning, material preparation, and assessments. I also take part in post-training reviews so we can reflect on what worked well, what can be improved, and how to adapt content for the next team or location. These steps help ensure that our training remains responsive to real-world field conditions and ranger needs.

What I enjoy most about this role is the opportunity to keep learning while I’m helping others grow. Every course, every team, and every environment brings something new. I get to work alongside experienced trainers who are generous with their knowledge, and I’m trusted to contribute meaningfully to sessions and fieldwork. That combination of learning, teamwork, and responsibility helps me grow professionally and personally.

I like being part of a team where everyone is treated with respect and ideas are shared openly. At LEAD, I’ve found a space where it’s safe to speak up, ask questions, and learn from mistakes. Being part of LEAD allows me to build confidence as a trainer and develop new skills, while also contributing to something important—helping rangers and frontline teams become better equipped to protect their environment and communities.

I want visitors to know that I’m committed to this work. I believe in the value of structured, practical training that reflects the realities people face on the ground. We don’t train for the sake of it—we train to prepare people for difficult tasks in complex environments. I’m proud to be part of a team that brings this kind of training to life and proud to contribute to the protection of the natural world through the work we do with rangers.
