ANBI status.

Stichting LEAD Conservation is registered by the Dutch tax authorities as an ANBI — a Public Benefit Organisation. The status requires that at least 90% of our efforts serve the general good, gives our donors tax advantages, and binds us to the administrative and transparency requirements published on this page.

The members of the board do not receive remuneration for their activities. Pursuant to the Articles of Association, no person — natural or legal — has a decisive say within the Foundation, and none can possess its assets as if they were equity.

Statutory aim

What the foundation exists to do.

The foundation aims to strengthen human capacities and educational systems that contribute to safer, more just, and more sustainable solutions for people and nature in landscapes where biodiversity is under pressure — with special attention to community-oriented work, problem-solving capacity, and leadership development. It pursues this aim by:

Education, training & guidance

Developing and offering educational, training, and guidance programmes in decision-making, security, collaboration, and organisational development within the context of nature conservation.

Problem-oriented collaboration

Promoting joint problem analyses and solution-oriented collaboration between local communities and conservation managers — problem-oriented wildlife protection, aimed at shared value and the sustainable protection of people and nature.

Humanitarian & social development

Contributing to humanitarian and social development in areas where ecological challenges and socioeconomic vulnerability converge.

And everything conducive to it

Performing all further actions related to the above in the broadest sense, or conducive to it.

How decisions are made.

Method

The board meets several times a year; the board member in charge of the secretariat compiles a report. Spending decisions are taken only in accordance with the objectives, usually nominated by the president and the treasurer, and the allocation of financial means to projects is approved by the board — where applicable after discussion with applicants and other stakeholders. Daily management of the foundation’s funds is the responsibility of the Executive Director, checked by the treasurer. Each year a financial report is compiled by an accountant and adopted by the board in the subsequent meeting.

Expenditures

The board takes great care to ensure that expenditures are made only in accordance with the statutory corporate purpose and the available funds. The foundation is a non-profit: all revenue is used in accordance with its objectives. No person can possess the assets of the foundation as if they were equity.
